Climate "science" corruption jumps the shark

This came about earlier this month, but I am finally getting to it. As you may recall, a bunch of Democrat attorneys general recently decided it would be a good idea to actually prosecute people for suggesting that the theory of man-made climate change -- "theory" means no one can prove or disprove it at the moment -- is not correct. I mentioned that previously here.

Well, some of those attorneys general decided they would pursue subpoenas. Oops:
Free-speech advocates have reason to cheer as two state attorneys general have walked back their subpoenas against Exxon Mobil Corp., tacitly admitting that their climate-change harassment lacks a legal basis.
Virgin Islands AG Claude Walker recently withdrew his subpoena of Exxon Mobil. He was a leader among the 17 AGs charging that the oil giant defrauded shareholders by hiding the truth about global warming. That’s hard to prove when the company’s climate-change research was published in peer-reviewed journals.
...
Meantime, Massachusetts AG Maura Healey filed court documents declaring she won’t enforce her subpoena against Exxon until the oil giant’s countersuits against the AGs are settled. Exxon has sued Ms. Healey in Texas federal court to quash her subpoena as a violation of its First and Fourth Amendment rights. Mrs. Healey clearly sensed the political dangers of dragging her office on a long, anti-free-speech march and is putting the investigation to the side.
The "legal" approach to suppress opposition to anthropogenic global warming -- the theory that man-made effects are causing global warming, a ludicrous theory considering the warming/cooling history of the planet and the fact that they data simply do not support the theory -- apparently has gone tits up. The AGs of New  York and California have not given up on their subpoenas against ExxonMobil yet,  but The California AG is just trying to burnish her lefty credentials for her bid to replace Barbara Boxer, the retiring stupidest member of the U.S. Senate (don't bother Googling it -- it won't show up anymore, even though it used to and she has been given that honor many times). The New York AG has a favorable state law to use, because he lives in a state governed by Communists, but he won't be pursuing it for long.

Nobody except greenie lunatics think this approach is legitimate. Maryland's AG is on board with this movement. Under their theory, I am subject to subpoena for speaking out against the AGW theory. The problem is, I can actually explain the theory, and Maryland's AG cannot. These subpoenas were dropped because the AGs didn't want to lose the court fights that would result, and they knew they would lose.

Doubt me? Name the First Law of Global Warming. Or the First Law of Climate Change. Or whatever they are calling it these days. For those of you climatistas in the audience, the First Law of Thermodynamics is:
The 1st Law of Thermodyamics simply states that energy can be neither created nor destroyed (conservation of energy). Thus power generation processes and energy sources actually involve conversion of energy from one form to another, rather than creation of energy from nothing.
Physics involves laws when things are known. It does not when things are not known. Please tell me the First Law of Global Warming. Or Climate Change. Or whatever. Otherwise, stop boring me with your bullshit.

When they start acting like they believe it's a crisis, I'll consider changing my mind

Seems as if the biggest panicmongers in the global warming cabal -- I'm looking at you, Al Gore -- never seem to live their lives with anything even approaching the carbon-creating restraint they constantly urge upon us. Well, add serial liar Hillary Clinton to that list:
Just hours after Hillary Clinton unveiled her presidential campaign's push to solve global warming through an aggressive carbon-cutting plan, she sauntered up the steps of a 19-seat private jet in Des Moines, Iowa.
The aircraft, a Dassault model Falcon 900B, burns 347 gallons of fuel per hour. And like all Dassault business jets, Hillary's ride was made in France.
The Trump-esque transportation costs $5,850 per hour to rent, according to the website of Executive Fliteways, the company that owns it.
The Clinton campaign's traveling press secretary, Nick Merrill, did not respond to a request for comment.
I'm not sure how this square's with Mrs. Clinton's newfound belief in global warming, but it is typical of the alarmists. More than 1,700 private jets flew a bunch of pretentious warming alarmists -- of the moneyed variety, of course, including Al Gore to Davos, Switzerland this past January to discuss, among other things -- you guessed it -- global warming:
The influx of private jets is so great, the Swiss Armed Forces has been forced to open up a military air base for the first time ever to absorb all the super rich flying their private jets into the event, reports Newsweek.
“Decision-makers meeting in Davos must focus on ways to reduce climate risk while building more efficient, cleaner, and lower-carbon economies,” former Mexican president Felipe Calderon told USA Today.
Gore famously routinely flies in  a private jets as he bops around the world trying to convince the little people to cut back on their energy use. Mrs. Clinton apparently learned everything she knows about global warming from Al (which means, of course, not much), and it shows:
But Mrs. Clinton said Monday in Des Moines that 'the reality of climate change is unforgiving – no matter what the deniers say. Sea levels are rising. Ice caps are melting. Storms, wildfires, and extreme weather are wreaking havoc.'
'This is one of the most urgent threats of our time, and we have no choice but to rise and meet it,' she added.
If she thinks it's so damn urgent, maybe she should act like it. The fact that she doesn't tells me she doesn't even believe her own horseshit. Why should I?

Holy fuck, I'm a heretic

Apparently, noted physicist and current Pope Francis is teaming up with renowned scientist Ban Ki-Moon, better known as general secretary of the most useless organization on Earth, to brand me a heretic.

The two of them, with their keen understanding of science, might not be targeting me personally, but the pope is coming out against "climate change" as a moral imperative, and Ban, who is just a meddling peckerhead with no discernible expertise in anything -- at least Francis is a theologian of some note -- is backing Francis in hopes that the UN can actually get a little world-government clout going. Neither one knows a fucking thing about the issues involved, nor could either explain the theory with a gun to his head. I think Francis better talk to his boss about climate change, which has been happening since Earth formed as a planet. Naturally, they are doing this as the whole man-made climate change myth is unravelling:
Last month, we are told, the world enjoyed “its hottest March since records began in 1880”. This year, according to “US government scientists”, already bids to outrank 2014 as “the hottest ever”. The figures from the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) were based, like all the other three official surface temperature records on which the world’s scientists and politicians rely, on data compiled from a network of weather stations by NOAA’s Global Historical Climate Network (GHCN).

But here there is a puzzle. These temperature records are not the only ones with official status. The other two, Remote Sensing Systems (RSS) and the University of Alabama (UAH), are based on a quite different method of measuring temperature data, by satellites. And these, as they have increasingly done in recent years, give a strikingly different picture. Neither shows last month as anything like the hottest March on record, any more than they showed 2014 as “the hottest year ever”.
NOAA and its allies have been fucking with temperature data for decades, applying algorithms to "correct" temperature measurements to account for various, vaguely identified factors. The result is always that temperatures in the past are revised down, current temperatures are revised up. None of the surface temperatures reported by NOAA reflect actual measurements.

Further, the theory of anthropogenic climate change -- man-made global warming, as they used to call it before global warming stopped 18 years ago and hit a plateau -- does not rely upon surface temperatures for proof. The so-called signature of man-made global warming is warming in the mid-troposphere over the tropics -- in other words, exactly what the RSS and UAH satellites measure and show no change in nearly two decades.

The reason is simple. The climate alarmists know that carbon dioxide alone lacks the temperature forcing effect to cause runaway warming. CO2 has a logorithmic warming effect. The first doubling of CO2 concentration in the atmosphere forces X amount of warming. Each subsequent doubling forces 1/2 of the previous forcing. In other words, CO2 can never produce more than twice the amount of initial warming. Estimates of that forcing range from less than 2 degrees F to 4 degrees F or so. So much for settle science when they can't even determine reliably such a basic figure. The real problem for the alarmists is that such an upper limit on forcing by CO2, which no one argues with, does not yield runaway warming. So what is the basis of the alarmists' claims that CO2 will turn the planet into a furnace?

Simple -- it won't be CO2. Water vapor provides 95 percent of the so-called greenhouse effect and is the only gas or substance capable of causing runaway warming. The theory, then is that the CO2 forcing will cause enough warming to create a much thicker band of water vapor around the planet, particularly in the tropics, which will trap more heat, lead to more water vapor and Bingo! runaway warming. This warming will be signalled by warming in the troposphere and a much thicker band of water vapor around Earth.

The problem with this theory is two-fold: the water vapor layer in Earth's lower atmosphere is not reaching higher, and the troposphere is not warming, according to the RSS and UAH data. This is what is known in scientific circles as falsification -- the theory has been disproven by the data.

Undeterred, the grant-hungry warmists instead try to scare us with surface temperatures, which have no bearing on the theory and probably are not warming anyway. But to scare us, they fuck with the data because Science!

Yeah, I could have provided more links, but I encourage you to do what I did and research it for yourself. You'll find you are being lied to as long as your research is honest (don't just go to alarmist sites, y'all.)

Well, at least they're coming out into the open

The bureaucratic push for anthropogenic global warming has never been about "saving the planet." The solution for "global warming" is the same as for every other so-called impending environmental catastrophe of the last 40 or 50 years, whether the "crisis" was coming worldwide famine, overpopulation, the ozone layer or whatever: worldwide government regulation. It is always the only thing that can save us. Anytime a scientist is suggesting political solutions to supposed scientific problems, you know the scientist is actually an activist, and his conclusions are suspect.

The motives of such an activist/scientist would be suspect, as well, but they aren't, because the U.N.'s head climate puke just fessed up:
At a news conference last week in Brussels, Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of U.N.'s Framework Convention on Climate Change, admitted that the goal of environmental activists is not to save the world from ecological calamity but to destroy capitalism.
"This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time, to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the Industrial Revolution," she said.
Referring to a new international treaty environmentalists hope will be adopted at the Paris climate change conference later this year, she added: "This is probably the most difficult task we have ever given ourselves, which is to intentionally transform the economic development model for the first time in human history."
Yeah, what do you know? Saving the planet? So five minutes ago. Overthrowing capitalism? Totally hot. At least they say it out loud now. Environmentalists have always been watermelons -- green on the outside, red on the inside. They want government to control where you live, what you drive, where you build, your property, everything. They want socialism/communism -- complete government control of your life, supposedly in the name of protecting the planet from us. Many of them are downright Malthusian and claim the world can only support X billion people and we need to reduce population. Oddly enough, they never volunteer to be a part of the population that gets reduced.

Reminder: According to satellite measurements, there has been no warming for more than 18 years

For those of you who don't understand the theory, the linchpin of the anthropogenic global warming theory is that the signature of man-made global warming is a warming of the mid-troposphere in the tropics. Got that? The beauty of this is, the global warming alarmists never talk about the mid-troposphere temperatures, because they don't control those measurements and so cannot adjust them, so they talk about surface temperatures, which they do control and which they manipulate all the time. So what do the temperatures they don't manipulate show? Yeah, about what you'd expect:
Since December 1996 there has been no global warming at all (Fig. 1). This month’s RSS temperature shows a sharp uptick to warmer worldwide weather than for two years, shortening the period without warming by a month to 18 years 2 months.
Figure 1. The least-squares linear-regression trend on the RSS satellite monthly global mean surface temperature anomaly dataset shows no global warming for 18 years 2 months since December 1996.
The hiatus period of 18 years 2 months, or 218 months, is the farthest back one can go in the RSS satellite temperature record and still show a sub-zero trend.
Just a reminder, kids, that the unaltered measurements contradict the altered temperatures. Guess which group gets the grant money? Yeah, the temperature-manipulators get billions a year from governments worldwide. Motive, much?
