As you can see from the top photo, the bridge has a third lane that remains closed to traffic. I'm not real sure what the lane is for, as Boyers Mill Road is only one lane in each direction. I could understand if the bridge were built as a four-lane in anticipation of expansion of Boyers Mill Road, but the three-lane configuration baffles me. But there you have it:
