A no-game-food game post

Having dropped DirecTV in August, for the third time this year I was forced off-site to watch the Packers, and so have no game food to report on. I am pleased to report, however, that the Packers laid a serious ass-whipping on the Vikings, eliminating their worthless butts from playoff contention. In a side not, the Redskins also laid an ass-whipping on the Chicago Bears, whose playoff hopes died weeks ago cuz they suck, but it still is always a good thing to see the Bears get their asses whipped. If Dallas could lay an ass-whipping on the Lions tomorrow night, that would be good, but I don't really care because all we have to do to win the division is beat the Lions next week. Which we will do.

There is a possibility Aaron Rodgers is getting in a dig at the Vikings

Yesterday's game was a return to Earth for the Packers -- surprise, surprise, a road game against a division opponent was a tough one. Still, the Pack came out on top, running the ball down the Vikings' collective throats with Eddie Lacey (a very good sign for cold-weather games ahead). Anyway, Aaron Rodgers had a beverage at his post-game press conference that might have been a shot at the ViQueens:

That's a Grape Crush, kids. Hmmmmmmmm.

Game food porn, bitches!

Not my kind of game -- I like blowouts, because I can relax -- but the Packers won, so I am happy. The Vikings are going to be a formidable opponent in the future, but for now, we remain triumphant. (I own two shares and am allowed to use "we" when discussing the Packers. I'm an owner, dammit.) Also happy with the game food, which was simple but good. Naturally, we had the stuffed potato skins:

We also did brown sugar bacon-wrapped dogs:

Finally, we threw in the bacon cheeseburger macaroni and cheese:

Contemplated other things, but went with these. I will put up a short food poll later tonight for Thanksgiving Day game food porn. That means, of course, we will have a double dose of food porn Thursday -- game food and Thanksgiving food porn. Couple new recipes on tap for the Thanksgiving food porn this year, so it should be interesting. Stay tuned for the poll!

Don't try to comfort me -- it's too soon

Sure, there have been iconic Packers players who went to play for the Minnesota Vikings. Despite the fact that we hate the Helgas, it happens. We don't have to like it, but it happens. When Darren Sharper put on the purple, it was bad. When Ryan Longwell headed northwest to Minnesota, that was bad, too. When Robert Ferguson took off the green and gold to go play for Minnesota, I got to admit, that didn't really bother me. He was marginal, after all. When Bret Favre went to the Vikings by way of New York, I didn't like it, but he had already made his bed.

But this is bad. I mean really bad. We were in the hunt to re-sign Greg Jennings, and he signed with the Vikings. They took him to dinner on the first date and he wound up going home with them. I realize there is no loyalty in the NFL, which stands for Not For Long. If Jennings weren't any good any more, the Packers would cut him in a heartbeat. As it is, the Vikings simply offered more money than we did. (Yes, I own shares in the Packers and can say "we.") It was just business, and Jennings did what was best for him. I'm still sad. I'll just sit here quietly for a while. We'll talk later.
