And boy does he look good:
That's a good-looking dog there. Of course, over Christmas we had the grand dog, Cpl. Wolves, and Married Into Wolves over a time or two:
Might be a little love going on there.
Everything you never wanted to know about the world of temporary attorneys. And maybe more.
Try it!

No shit, I put him to work
Having used Minnesota Wolves as labor to clean up my own house, I decided I should take him to The Farm and put him to work there, too. Naturally, I enlisted Cpl. Wolves, as well. Since we needed to dig two new beds to house the squash and the cucumbers, I decided I didn't want to dig those. Hmmm, what to do? Enlist young strong backs and weak minds, of course. Fortunately, they were willing:
They stripped the sod from two new beds:
Really, much faster than I expected:
I'm not saying they liked me for it:
I tilled one, then Farmer Tom tilled the other:
Naturally, I surveyed the progress of the early crops. Here we have some kale:
This is something like kale that isn't kale. Fuck if I know:
Spinach:
Radishes:
And the newly created beds (they look they same, so I just took one picture. I mean, really):
Those boys worked like field hands. Seriously, why else do you have sons?

Sadie gets cleaned up and moves to her new home
Married Into Wolves has been wanting a pet for quite some time. Cpl. Wolves test drove cats, as long-time readers know. but Married Into Wolves is allergic, so that did not work. A solution did present itself, however. Married Into Wolves loves Sadie, the Auxiliary Back-up Dog. So we took her to a groomer and got her cleaned up for a possible transfer:
She looks pretty good, I have to admit. Also very energetic:
So Sadie the Auxiliary Back-up Dog went over to live with Cpl. Wolves and Married Into Wolves. She loves it:
She plays kill the sock with Cpl. Wolves constantly:
Looks like a good fit. We miss our auxiliary back-up dog, but we are happy she gets so much loving attention at her new home. Cpl. Wolves was always her favorite, so it isn't too much of a dislocation for her.
Of course, this has Mrs. Wolves talking about a new puppy, God help us.

Kit-tays and the Corporal
Cpl. Wolves came by yesterday to visit his animals. And his mother, too, I guess, but probably mostly his animals. And, yeah, his animals were glad to see him:
Looks like he was glad to see them, too.

A Wolves Christmas
Christmas at Chez Wolves actually started on Christmas Eve. Cpl. Wolves and Married Into Wolves had in-law conflicts and so came to Chez Wolves on Thursday. Naturally, the animals were happy to see Cpl. Wolves, especially Jeb the Wonder Dog:
Yeah, he hung around with Cpl. Wolves quite a bit:
No, really:
Almost all of the animals got into the act. Sadie the Auxiliary Back-up Dog and Mischief failed to get into the act here, but they were the only ones:
Always good to have them over, and a very nice Christmas Eve it was, with one glaring exception that I will discuss in a later post. It involved what we watched, which definitely was not on our list of annual holiday favorites.

Cpl. Wolves regresses
Cpl. Wolves has decided to forgo modern transportation. Sort of, anyway. Because he lives so close to his work, he sold his car and bought a bicycle. It is pretty fucking high-tech:
The brand escapes me, but this sucker is motorized. He can cruise along with the motor doing all the work, or he can pedal with assistance from the motor, or he can do all the work himself:
Not sure why you would ever do all the work yourself, but this thing gets him to work for weeks in between charges, apparently. He likes it, and doesn't seem to mind the exposure to the elements. We'll see how he feels about that as winter progresses.

The Beastmaster returns
Cpl. Wolves came by the other day for a visit. His animals were glad to see him:
I'm not sure they have forgiven him for marrying a woman with cat allergies, but it looks like they don't really hold a grudge:
Clearly, they miss him. So do I.

Let's just call him The Beastmaster
Cpl. Wolves dropped by the other day for a visit with Mrs. Wolves, and boy were his animals glad to see him:
He was only missing one cat and one dog:
Hard to believe this guy is a trained killer:

I'm sorry, he had to get married for this to happen?
It doesn't matter whether Cpl. Wolves is loading or unloading that dishwasher, this is something that never happened while he was under our roof:
A week and a half out of the house, and already Married Into Wolves is reforming the boy's domestic habits. That's a real woman, there.

I have kit-tay photos because I have kit-tays
Sometimes, that's all the reason you need for kit-tay photos. Also, since I don't have to get up in the morning, I can stay up late and post shit on the blog, which I have not been doing much the last few days. Anyway, Mrs. Wolves took a could pictures of kit-tay's being cute. In this case, in a box:
I'm not sure where they hell they are here, but they are snuggling together and cute, so there you have it:
And, of course, they love their boy, Cpl. Wolves:
And he loves them. I'm sure there will be more kit-tay photos forthcoming.

Some people are just really good at Christmas
Cpl. Wolves is perhaps the best gift-giver ever. He consistently gives gifts that are not what you expected but are exactly what you wanted. Every damn time. It's embarrassing. Anyway, this year he gave me this:
It is, of course, a framed picture of Aaron Rodgers during Super Bowl XLV, which, yeah, we won, and Rodgers was the MVP. So far, great. More? Yeah:
It is autographed. I cried like a baby. Kind of like I did when we won Super Bowl XLV. So, yeah, it's already on the wall. And no, it is not crooked. That's just how the picture looks.
God, I love that kid.

Birthday Ball, y'all!
Cpl. Wolves and Marrying Into Wolves went to what likely will be their last Marine Corps Birthday Ball on Saturday night. Cpl. Wolves, barring unforseeen developments, will be out of the Corps in June, so this was it. Apparently, it was a good time and, of course, they were a beautiful couple:
Nice bling on that boy's chest. Good times.

We have kit-tays in the house
Cpl. Wolves and Marrying Into Wolves obtained two kittens the other day. They are getting their own place soon -- Cpl. Wolves and Marrying Into Wolves, not the kittens -- but for now the kittens will live at Chez Wolves. Cpl. Wolves is going to Mountain Combat Training in California for a month in a couple weeks, so we will keep the kit-tays in the meantime.
They're really cute, and people tell me that kittens are the key to success on the interwebs, so I figured I would toss them out there, figuratively speaking. We'll start with pictures, then get some video up as soon as possible. By the way, their names are Murder and Mayhem -- which looks hilarious on their vet records, where they just got their shots. I think the names are appropriate. Their behavior tends to back up the names, and both appear to have an "M" etched in black stripes above their eyes. I shit you not. Anyway, kit-tay pictures:
I still can't tell them apart -- I'm not sure anyone can -- but this is Murder (or Mayhem -- whatever) attacking Jeb the Wonder Dog's tail. Jeb was a little unsure about these guys at first, but he's cool now, all of 48 hours later.
They are, after all, kittens, and so they sleep a lot. Last night, they came upstairs from the basement (where Cpl. Wolves' bedroom is) to the main floor when I got home at 9ish. They messed around while I messed around, then climbed up on one of the dining room chairs and took a nap.
One nap is never enough, so they messed around some more, then napped some more.
Both of them are up here on the main floor now -- at midnightish -- and one has climbed up into my lap three times while I'v been putting up posts. Thank God kitten claws won't penetrate denim.
Mrs. Wolves was taking pictures during the day, so those will be up soon. Can't wait to get some video. I hear cute kittens are money on the interwebs.
