Too much work, not enough posting

Yeah, yeah, I'm working on it. Posting a quickie from behind enemy lines to let you know that I'm putting together a few posts for today, tomorrow and Christmas. Just remember: Confucious says, "16 hour work days suck."

I suppose I owe an explanation

I haven't been posting much late. Frankly, I've been too tired most nights, but it also is a direct result of this job being really boring. There are no real pyrotechnics or great Temp Town behavior to write about. Dullsville, kids. Since that is supposedly the theme of the blog, I have been hard-put to find post material. I hate to just load up with kitties, military stuff and politics. On the other hand, with no Temp Town material to speak of, not sure what else to do. I guess you'll see what happens, right? Thanks for hanging in there.

Yeah, I've been a crappy blogger lately

There are a number of reasons for that, as work has been demanding and my home life has been even more demanding. Posting has been, I'm sorry to say, a low priority in recent days. Consequently, I have a lot of pent-up posts to do that I have been unable to get to over the last couple weeks. May turned out to be Eff You's third-best month ever, despite the fact that I posted almost not at all in the last week or so of the month, but June has been lackluster, no doubt because I have been posting squadoosh. Well, that's about to change, as Brad Paisley would say. What, you don't know the reference? Sorry to hear that:

Brad Paisley did the animation himself. He's a talented guy. If you follow country music, you should get all of the character references in the video. If you don't follow country music, you should.

Anyway, I got stuff to post, including food porn, farm porn, wedding porn and all kinds of stuff. Stay tuned.

Trying a new approach to put up more posts

This project is killing me. I get home at about 10:15, sometimes 10:30. By the time I take care of stuff I have to take care of, it's usually past midnight. I'll sit down to put a couple posts on the blog and, like as not, the next thing I know it's 2 or 3 in the morning and I wake up in my chair, never having touched the keyboard. Lack of posts is related to lack of traffic, which is OK for the month but down the last week or so. So now I'm blogging behind enemy lines. It won't be posted from here (I'm actually at the firm on this project) so I am emailing this post to myself. You'll know how well the technique works by how many posts I am able to put up tonight that were written earlier in the day. Update: the answer is, this post, and only this post. That didn't work, at least not today.

In case you were wondering

I haven't been posting as much lately because Central America is a very demanding place, and I spend long hours touring the guerrilla-filled jungles. I should be back soon, though.

I guess I should apologize

I've been a shitty poster lately. Work has been a bitch, and spring has meant more yard work and farming, so even my weekend posting is down. As a result, so is traffic. I'm not happy about this, but a remedy is difficult to come by. Realistically, the only solution is less sleep in exchange for more posts. In recent months, I have not been willing to make that trade. I think, though, in the interests of the blog, I have to do that.

On the one hand, the project is boring and not likely to produce much in the way of insight into the life of contract attorneys, or even much humorous commentary on that life. That, of course, was the original purpose of this blog.

On the other hand, I have never felt bound by that, so I have lots of opportunity to post about food, farming, politics and whatever. I don't know how well that goes over with the core audience, but it seems to work as long as I post often.

Which I have not been doing. So anyway, if there is something you want me to post about, tell me. Just put up a comment. or send an email to raised.by.a.wolf@gmail.com.  I'm not inclined to give up the blog, but I don't want to get stuck in a rut. Help me out here, people.

Mea culpa. Or not.

Yes, I realize I have been extraordinarily slack about posting lately. Lot of factors involved there. I could apologize profusely, or I could tell you to refer to the name of the blog.  Everybody waiting for an apology take a deep breath, hold it, step to the left and wait for me to apologize. No cheating by taking another breath. The rest of you, well, Eff You.

Not much exciting in Temp Town these days

My project, while steady and apparently never-ending, has not been much for producing post-worthy material. Hence the posts about just about anything except Temp Town -- food porn, politics, my life in general --what, you didn't like the county fair posts? Refer to the name of the blog.

In any event, I will try to wear my headphones a little less often at work and try to pick up some postable stuff that actually relates to the original topic of the blog. However, I reserve the right to post whatever the fuck strikes my fancy. Don't like it? Again, refer to the name of the blog.

If you write it, they will come

Yeah, we've been over this before. You don't post, you don't get traffic. Yesterday was a pretty good day by this blog's standards and far better than any day in weeks, maybe months. Why? I put up a bunch of content. That's how it works. I know this intellectually, but sometimes it is difficult to kick my butt into gear when I get home late at night or have umpty-ump errands to run on the weekends. Nonetheless, I will endeavor to persevere.

You never write, you never call

Sorry about that. Driving myself into the ground like a tent peg trying to get my hours (because every project ends tomorrow) is not conducive to posting. Working on that. Traffic has reflected my lack of attention (or maybe just reflects summertime. Fuck if I know). Still a lot higher than when I started, but I promise more posts. Thank you for continuing to visit.

My walk of shame

July ended with fewer than a post-per-day average, the first time that has happened on this blog since August 2012. I hang my head in shame. I look for someone to blame. I vow things can't stay the same. Then I seek a dame. I could easily turn this into a blues song. Anyway, I'll try to be better about posting. On the other hand, you try posting daily on a blog while working 12 hours a day and commuting 4. Yeah, suck it. Sorry, that wasn't very reader-friendly.

I'm detecting a pattern here

Here we are, the last day of the month, and I am trying desperately to up my post count. Let's face it, I haven't done enough posting this month, and traffic is down accordingly (although not as much as I have implied -- six months ago I would have been happy with current traffic levels, but having built traffic above that, I am no happy to be back down again). Nonetheless, I vow to once again meet the average I have maintained since the beginning of the year of at least one post per day. Not going to hit that for this month, but I will strive for it in the future. Especially since when I don't post, people don't bother to come by.

Saturday, July 27, 2013

Yeah, I've been remiss about posting

Traffic has been kind of in the toilet lately, and I was going to rationalize and blame it on summertime, people on vacation, yada yada yada. But let's face it, you don't post, they don't come. If you provide content, folks will check it out. Don't, and they find other places to go. So the fault is mine for not posting. In my defense, my job is fucking killing me. That's lame, though, so I'll work on this posting thing.

On the other hand, "in the toilet" these days still means roughly triple to quadruple the monthly traffic I had before November 2012, when I got the Instalanche link. So I shouldn't complain. Anyway, I'll be more diligent about posting. Thanks for coming by.

If you build it, they will come

Fun facts of blogging: People read blogs, to the extent that they do, to see what you're saying. If you don't post, traffic falls as people realize you aren't saying anything. Simple cause and effect. Slow traffic day today because of the relative paucity of posts over the last week or so. I've been living this killer work schedule with the added complications of real life intruding on my posting time. I will endeavor to get back on the pony and put up fun and fascinating posts about life, food, music, Temp Town follies and other stuff.

I can't lie, it's been tough

Starting in September, each month I have managed to post at least an average of once a day. It took a big burst toward the end of this month to keep up that average, but we're good now. Believe me, I am looking forward to Raised by Wolverines adding some content.

Sunday, October 28, 2012

Are these guys new?

Not going to lie, this has been a little bit of a down month for traffic. Posting drives traffic normally, and I've been trying to post at least once a day, but I've fallen behind lately. Frankly, I post less when I'm not working, which is now, and the fact that I spilled a beer into my keyboard doesn't help. Some pretty funky typing action there.

In any event, I have visits from Spain and the United Arab Emirates. I think the UAE has been here before, but I have no way of checking. Also, I have no recollection of Spain dropping by. Firsts? Anyone remember? Food porn coming up.
