Why does John Kerry still have a job?

John Kerry, who as secretary of state is allegedly our chief diplomat, proves almost daily that he is an idiot. In discussing the terrorist attack in Paris recently, he sure as shit sounded like he was saying the attack in January on the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, in which 12 journalists died, was somehow justified:
There’s something different about what happened from Charlie Hebdo [and what happened in last week’s Paris attacks], and I think everybody would feel that. [In the Hebdo case] [t]here was a sort of particularized focus and perhaps even a legitimacy in terms of – not a legitimacy, but a rationale that you could attach yourself to somehow and say, okay, they’re really angry because of this and that.
This Friday was absolutely indiscriminate. It wasn’t to aggrieve one particular sense of wrong. It was to terrorize people. It was to attack everything that we do stand for. That’s not an exaggeration. It was to assault all sense of nationhood and nation-state and rule of law and decency, dignity, and just put fear into the community and say, “Here we are.”
And for what? What’s the platform? What’s the grievance? That we’re not who they are? They kill people because of who they are and they kill people because of what they believe. And it’s indiscriminate.
I bolded the unbelievable part. Sure, he immediately backed off calling the Charlie Hebdo attack "legitimate," but he embraced the concept that there was a rationale that made sense. "After all, they pissed off the Islamist killers, so of course they got killed." What a douche.

I'm not the only guy who thinks Kerry should be unemployed, but really, do you think Emperor Barry I would bring in anybody better? Who? No, we're stuck with this moron until Barry I begins his transition from worst president every to worst ex-president ever. I realize he has a high mountain to climb -- in the form of Jimmy Carter -- to achieve those two goals, but I think Barry has it in him. Kerry has to be a frontrunner for worst secretary of state ever, as well.

Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark. demonstrates why John Kerry is an incompetent buffoon and the Iran deal is a steaming heap of poo

My personal favorite? When talking about the secret side deals between Iran and the IAEA, Sen. Cotton says, “The Ayatollahs will know what they agreed to, but not the American people.” Secretary of State John Kerry says, "Um."

Oh, dear me; Update!

Secretary of State John "Horseface" Kerry didn't just embarrass the United States by having a has-been hippy singer play a terrible song to try and make up for snubbing the French over the anti-Islamic terrorism protest. He also embarrassed the U.S. by apparently trying to make out with French President Francois Hollande:

Awk-ward. Is this really what we pay this man for. Looks to me like Francois wasn't too keen on Kerry sticking his tongue in Francois' ear.

Hat tip to Insty for leading me to Kay Burley's post of this video, by way of Twitchy. Hey, sometimes the journey, however long and arduous, is worth it.

Update: A little bit from The Telegraph in the United Kingdom on just how awkward it was:
When top US diplomat John Kerry rushed towards the French president, arms open, to warmly embrace him on Friday, what followed was a cringeworthy culture clash that has befuddled many a visitor to France.
The French are just not that into hugging.
Kerry had given fair warning to his French counterparts that some American-style affection was on the cards.
"My visit to France is basically to share a big hug for Paris and express the affection of the American people for France and for our friends there who have been through a terrible time," he said on the eve of his trip.
The phrase alone sparked confusion in the media who struggled to pin down a translation for the word hug.
Smart power, baby.

I'm sure France appreciated the gesture

Some things have to be seen to be believed, and even then they are impossible to accept as real. Allahpundit of Hot Air is having just such a moment with this tweet from MSNBC air personality (can't call her a journalist or reporter, and I'm not even sure using the word "personality" to describe her really fits) Andrea Mitchell. Mitchell reports with a straight face that Secretary of State John Kerry, in Paris to apologize for the U.S. not sending an appropriate representative to last week's march against Islamic terrorism, brought 1970s folk singer James Taylor with him to sing "You've got a friend." Mitchell calls it "message to France after U.S. no shows last week." Most other people call it a story from The Onion. Nope:
The visit was organised after the White House admitted it had made a mistake in not dispatching a senior figure to Paris where 40 other world leaders took to the streets in solidarity with a million protesters after the attacks on Charlie Hebdo and a kosher supermarket.
Kerry will deliver some of his speech at the Paris city hall in French and then introduce the veteran American singer, James Taylor, most famous for the song You’ve Got a Friend.
“My visit to France is basically to share a big hug for Paris and express the affection of the American people for France and for our friends there who have been through a terrible time,” the secretary of state said in Bulgaria, before taking off for Paris.
"Veteran American singer" is Guardian-speak for "hasn't had a hit in 40 years and most people are surprised he's still alive." Seriously, was Barney the Dinosaur not available? His hey-day is a lot more recent than Taylor's, and his "I love you, you love me, we're a great big family" theme song is just as "appropriate," as in not at all. This is what passes for "smart power"? Shoulda stuck with those dumbass hashtags:

Yeah, I think this pretty much sums up Barry's stature in the international community

Emperor Barry I must be asking at this point, "Et tu, Kerry?" The Rodney Dangerfield of international leaders is now getting dissed by his own secretary of state -- and not the former one who hopes to replace him. Secretary of State John Kerry met with the Russian foreign minister recently and, according to the Russian foreign minister, basically told him that Obama is full of shit:
Though it went entirely unnoticed in the Western press, all major Russian news outlets – RIA Novosti, Sputnik, RT, and others – were only too happy to report on what US Secretary of State John Kerry said last week to the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in private: “Just ignore Obama’s statements.”
Granted, most of us have known for a good while that Emperor Barry I is full of shit -- hell, even Emperor Barry I knows it (the problem being, of course that he believes "his own bullshit") -- but this apparently came as a surprise to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov:
According to Mr. Lavrov, John Kerry advised him not to pay too much attention to the US President’s harsh rhetoric directed toward his state. As recently as September, during his speech to the 69th UN General Assembly in New York, Mr. Obama puzzled and shocked Mr. Lavrov by placing “Russian aggression in Europe” in second place among the world’s threats, behind only the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, resigning to third place the “brutality of terrorists in Syria and Iraq.” “Aggressive Russia” again was included in Mr. Obama’s world top-danger list during November’s G20 Summit in Australia.
. . .

“Talking to John Kerry,” said Mr. Lavrov in his speech to the State Duma assembly, “I asked him, what did it mean. He said to me: ‘Just ignore it.’ You understand, if this is so serious, then, of course, it is very sad. And he said ‘just ignore it’ because he wanted at that moment to discuss how we were going to co-ordinate our approaches on solving Iran’s nuclear program and on the situation on the Korean peninsula.”
This is what the administration calls "smart power." Leaves me longing for a little good old-fashioned dumb power, where we told our enemies "Don't fuck with us" and they believed it because they knew that 1) we meant it and b) we could back it up with muscle. Now they know we can't back it up, that we wouldn't anyway because we are basically a bunch of pussies (in the White House, anyway) and that we don't actually mean it anyway.

Finally, John Kerry says something I can agree with

Actually, I think Secretary of State John Kerry might have said two things I agree with, which would, of course, be a first, since I'm not sure I've ever agreed with him on anything. However, in response to Sen. Mary Landrieu, (D-La.),  applying pressure on him to approve the Keystone XL pipeline to bring oil from Canada to the Gulf Coast refineries, Kerry revealed a couple of truths that forced me to agree with him:
“I understand it’s on a lot of people’s minds, a mean a lot of people’s,” said Mr. Kerry, who noted that he has to review public comments along with his department’s lengthy environmental impact report and must “get feedback from eight different agencies.”
“So I’m not at liberty to go into my thinking at this point,” he said, adding, that he is approaching the matter “tabula rasa.”
Once he completes his evaluation, it will be forwarded to President Barack Obama, “who has the ultimate authority to make this decision,” Mr. Kerry said.
First off, of course, it is worth noting that Kerry is lying his ass off about having to review public comments or get feedback from other agencies. His own department already issued its report saying no significant environmental issues militate against building the XL pipeline. The comments have been reviewed and the agency feedbacks have been noted. This this has been under review since before Barry took office, for Christ's sake. No one can find any reason not to approve the project, except for Barry -- he knows environmental groups will stop giving the Democrats money if he approves it. Kerry, at least, pretends he needs to evaluate substantive reasons.

Which leads us to the points on which I agree with Kerry. (I'm not trying to be disrespectful toward Sec. of State Kerry, by the way -- I'm just showing him the same level of respect the left showed toward Pres. George W. Bush, who was usually referred to as just "Bush" by the left, unless they were calling him "Bushitler" or something worse. The justification, of course, was that Pres. Bush was an idiot. Well, W. got better grades at Yale than Kerry did, and he was playing college-level baseball at the same time. So suck it.)

Anyway, Kerry said he would look at the XL pipeline "tabula rasa," which is Latin forr "blank slate." I guess Johnboy thought he was showing off his smarts, but mostly he just conceded what many of us already knew: his mind is blank. So that's one area in which Kerry and I agree.

The other concession Kerry made, with which I agree, is that the president has the ultimate authority to decide this issue. Barry has pretended for years now that he is simply awaiting a decision from the State Department, as if he had no input. Barry is, of course, a lying sack of shit. Johnboy just inadvertently called him one. And I agree.

Even NPR, not exactly a bastion of conservatism, makes it clear that Barry has to decide and that Kerry makes a recommendation only:
Secretary of State John Kerry will make a final recommendation to Obama, who has 90 days to decide. The question is how long the president will wait — and what effect it will have on November's midterm elections, when the fate of Democratic senators from conservative-leaning, energy-producing states will determine whether the party retains control of the Senate.
Good to know that major energy policy decisions depend solely upon party politics. And this from the lips of hard-core liberals like NPR.

Russia invades Ukraine; Barry skips security team meeting on Ukraine

Democrats really don't care about foreign policy except to the extent that their ineptitude at foreign policy and their utter lack of concern about the security of U.S. interests overseas become campaign issues. After all, you can't get many votes by committing voter fraud overseas, and most Americans overseas are military, and they mostly vote Republican. Much more productive to bribe voters at home with "free" stuff and come up with ways to make sure overseas absentee ballots don't get counted.

Oh, I'm sorry, is that too cynical? Of course Democrats care about foreign policy. I guess that's why President Dickhead went to bed while his ambassador to Libya was being killed in Benghazi and why President Dickhead didn't bother to attend a national security team meeting about how to deal with the Russians invading Ukraine:
According to Time magazine's Zeke Miller, Obama skipped the meeting. "Obama did not attend the meeting, but WH official says he has been briefed by Susan Rice and his national security team," says Miller.
Of course, if it had been an actual invasion and not just an "uncontested arrival," I'm sure Barry would have gone to the meeting. On the other hand, maybe the reason his statement on the invasion was so weak and so short was because he was late for happy hour at a Democratic Fundraiser (video at the link).

And let's face it, if Democrats, and Obama in particular, cared about foreign policy, would John Kerry be Secretary of State?

Proven turd-blossom John Kerry says Arabs will pay for U.S. invasion of Syria; all we have to do is provide the guys who will die

No problem there, right? I thought the administration just wanted to slap Syria's wrist for using chemical weapons. Who's talking about an invasion? John Kerry is, that's who.
Secretary of State John Kerry said at Wednesday’s hearing that Arab counties have offered to pay for the entirety of unseating President Bashar al-Assad if the United States took the lead militarily.
“With respect to Arab countries offering to bear costs and to assess, the answer is profoundly yes,” Kerry said. “They have. That offer is on the table.”
Asked by Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) about how much those countries would contribute, Kerry said they have offered to pay for all of a full invasion.
“In fact, some of them have said that if the United States is prepared to go do the whole thing the way we’ve done it previously in other places, they’ll carry that cost,” Kerry said. “That’s how dedicated they are at this. That’s not in the cards, and nobody’s talking about it, but they’re talking in serious ways about getting this done."
Sure, Kerry seems to rule out an "invasion," but he sure seems to think it's OK for Americans to die if someone else is paying for it. There are lots of things falling short of invasion that could get Americans killed. Kerry seems unconcerned, which is odd, given his history of opposition to stupid wars. I guess an intervention where there is no immediate U.S. security interest --we'e done nothing for two years and let 100,000 people die so far, so how can we call our interests immediate? --is OK now. Whatevs. Kerry is a tool. The money is not what matters, you stupid shit.

He's just exercising his rights

John Kerry, the new Secretary of State, was in Germany the other day telling a bunch of students, "in America, you have a right to be stupid if you want to be." There he was, living proof that not only does he have the right to be stupid, but exercising that right is no impediment to becoming Secretary of State. God help us.
