I'm sorry, the calendar says March

So why did we get snow and ice Sunday? And snow and ice forecast for this afternoon? And more snow Thursday? Someone needs to have a word with someone. It's almost spring, and I expect some spring-like weather, damn it. And yeah, I'm blogging behind enemy lines.

Yes, it snowed again, and yes, I'm really fucking tired of it

Of course, because the firm I work for goes by what the federal government does, and the federal government is run by dickless wimps, we didn't work today, just because it snowed 4-6 inches. Seriously, people. Anyway, it is what it is. Here it is, the first day of spring just a couple days away, and I am walking in a winter wonderland. Here we are, yet again, looking left from my porch:

Based on the depth of snow on the hood of my car, I'm guessing 5-6 inches. Of course, it spent most of the day melting, even though it was overcast and snow kept falling until about 1 pm. Something to do with the directness of the sun's angle toward the surface of the earth. Not trying to get technical here:

Anyway, those flowers that came up the other day? Yeah, they are somewhere down there under this:

The way the weather has been -- 60 degrees yesterday, snowing today -- this snow will probably be gone tomorrow afternoon. Let's face it -- it's time to quit snowing.

I guess this counts as snow

Unexpected -- at least as far as I was concerned -- overnight snow. I had heard rumors of flurries, but no accumulation. Looked out this morning, saw there was maybe a quarter inch on the ground and cars, but nothing on any pavement. Still, consistent with the patter of much more measurable snowfall this winter than in the last two or three years.

Not much there, but we've already beaten last year's snow accumulation handily. Damn that global warming. Yeah, I know, weather is not climate (unless you are a warming alarmist and you think the weather supports your argument). Don't make me school you. You would be smart to be preparing for a repeat of the Maunder Minimum, or at least the Dalton Minimum. If you don't know what I'm talking about, why the fuck do you buy the man-made global warming horseshit? Just sayin'.

Well this is ridiculous

It would appear that this winter intends to never end. We got snow last night/this morning. Maybe two inches, maybe three. The really funny part -- funny weird, not funny ha-ha -- is that this snow event was much worse to drive in than the non-snow event two weeks ago that we got a snow day for. That one, there was very little snow despite predictions of up to 18 inches. I guess the predictions scared everybody into cancelling shit. Not this time. This wasn't a big snow event by any means, but it was more severe than that one, and yet we went to work today. Go figure. Pictures are coming if Mrs. Wolves ever gets around to giving them to me.

White Christmas, baby

Out of the blue. None of my freaky-deaky weather gadgets on my computer told me this was going to happen. Anyway, we're getting snow. Not a lot-- maybe an inch or so -- but it's a white Christmas all the same.

These pictures are looking right, looking straight out and looking left from my sidewalk at about 4:30 pm. I think it has turned to snow mixed with sleet or rain now. Anyway, this isn't a weather blog, except when I decide that it is. Merry Christmas, everyone.

Sure, Metro, the federal government, most DC agencies, a lot of private employers are closed because of the impending wallop from Hurricane Sandy, but not all of the federal government is closed
