Yeah, game food porn

I cannot believe it took me this long to get up the game food porn from LAST Sunday, when we beat the Bengals in overtime. It did, though. I guess I'll get to the game food porn from Thursday night, when we beat the living fuck out of the Bears, later. As it is. Last Sunday, we had, of course, stuffed potato skins:

We also had bacon-cheeseburger macaroni and cheese, which is really, really good:

We also had brown sugar bacon dogs:

Oh, my word, good stuff. Not for your heart, mind you, but mighty tasty. The recipes, of course, can be found by searching the blog. You should. Your stomach, if not your heart, will thank you.

Most triumphant game food post

Yeah, I know I just posted the game food porn from last week, when we beat the shit out of the Giants, but I wanted to be a little more timely with posting the game food porn from yesterday, when we sent the Cowboys down to ignominious defeat in their own stadium. Naturally, the Packers will try to do the same to the Falcons next week, but first, we must review the game food porn that drove the Packers -- or at least some of their fans - to victory this week. We had the tater totchos:

Brown sugar bacon dogs also made the menu:

And we topped it off with bacon cheeseburger macaroni and cheese:

Of course, what we really topped it off with was a last-second field goal to send the top-seeded Cowboys home to cry all off-season long while the Packers advance to the conference championship game. Can't wait to take on the Falcons next week.

We might have had a blizzard, but we still have football -- and game food porn

We had major snow clearing activities today, but we also had AFC and NFC title games. Sure, the satellite was down, but the internet wasn't, so we watched the Patriots lose in between bouts of shoveling the cars out of Tsnow-nami. We did brown sugar bacon dogs:

Miniature lasagnas, which were so good:

And, of course, we did stuffed potato skins:

All in all, a good looking spread.

And all of this was for the early game. Might even have some game food porn for the Panthers-Cardinals. Stay tuned!

That would've been a great game if we'd won. The game food was great regardless.

Saturday night, the Packers lost in overtime to the Cardinals in a classic contest, 26-20. Packers scored a touchdown on an incredible Hair Mary pass as time expired, but decided to kick the extra point to tie the score and force overtime. We lost the toss, the Cardinals scored quickly in overtime and we lost. Should've gone for the two-point conversion at the end of regulation. Oh, well.

The game food was anything but "oh, well." We did something new and, as it turns out, magnificent. You start with about 1-1/2 pounds of skirt steak, some salt and pepper, 4 oz. of parmigiano-reggiano cheese, some lemon zest and 3/4 cups of chopped fresh parsley:

Skirt steak was unavailable. Flank steak, my second choice, was available only in cuts much too thick. I went with top round. Whatever you use, make sure it is no more than 1/3 inch thick and at least 4 inches wide. If if fails to meet those parameters, get out the mallet and beat your meat:

Cut it in half width-wise:

Gitcher parsley:

Chop it up:

Take that cheese and spread it over the steak:

Spread the parsley on top of that:

Leave about a 1/2-inch margin around the edge of the meat. Now carefully roll that sucker up, starting at the narrowest end:

See?:

Yeah, it should look like that, more or less:

Take a length of butcher's twine and tie it around the middle:

Tie lengths of butcher's twine around the two ends, roughly halfway between the middle of the roll and the end, then cut that bad boy in half at the middle piece of twine:

Depending upon how wide your steak is, you might also cut the roll at the outer pieces of twine, as well. I did, leaving me with eight pinwheels:

Ideally, this is what they will all look like. Not all of them will be ideal:

On a grill, or in the oven on broil, cook the pinwheels cut-side down for about 6 minutes, flip them and cook for another 6 minutes:

They gon' be good:

I also made some bacon-wrapped tater tots:

Made for a good first wave during the Patriots-Broncos game:

Later, I threw out some brown sugar bacon dogs:

All in all, the food experience was most satisfying, even if the game result was not. Considering how beat up we were, I was proud of the boys. Personally, I thought we should have won, but "should have" does not outweigh the score of the game. Next year, I guess. We'll see what kind of food porn we get between now and next football season.  Bon appetit.

I got game food porn in three parts; Part I

Yes, we saw an epic collapse in the last few minutes of last night's NFC championship game. It was inexcusable. I damn near killed myself. Had they presented themselves, I probably would have killed some random strangers. Fortunately for everyone, none of that happened. But the Packers did, in fact, lose a game they should have won. It was horrible.

The game food wasn't, though. Actually, the game food was excellent. Nephew to Wolves and his girlfriend, Knows Fuck-All About Wolves, were in attendance, so in honor of her vegetarianism, we had several veggie-friendly dishes, including a veggie tray:

We also had caramel dip and apples, also veggie friendly but on the menu mainly because of the presence of Marrying Into Wolves:

Instead of bacon-cheeseburger macaroni and cheese I fixed a vegetarian friendly mac and cheese (the recipe and instructions will follow this post):

Did some fondue, too:

Finally, meat makes an appearance in the form of brown sugar bacon dogs:

Back to meat free, I did some cheese-stuffed potato bites (recipe will follow in a later post):

Of course, we had stuffed potato skins:

Yes, we had veggie versions, too. At one point, the table looked like this:

Cpl. Wolves and Marrying Into Wolves both enjoyed the game food, although I think Cpl. Wolves enjoyed Marrying Into Wolves more:

Oh, yeah. For desert, we had bacon-wrapped doughnuts:

Those are really good. Game sucked (at least at the end). Game food didn't.

Game food porn, bitches!

Not my kind of game -- I like blowouts, because I can relax -- but the Packers won, so I am happy. The Vikings are going to be a formidable opponent in the future, but for now, we remain triumphant. (I own two shares and am allowed to use "we" when discussing the Packers. I'm an owner, dammit.) Also happy with the game food, which was simple but good. Naturally, we had the stuffed potato skins:

We also did brown sugar bacon-wrapped dogs:

Finally, we threw in the bacon cheeseburger macaroni and cheese:

Contemplated other things, but went with these. I will put up a short food poll later tonight for Thanksgiving Day game food porn. That means, of course, we will have a double dose of food porn Thursday -- game food and Thanksgiving food porn. Couple new recipes on tap for the Thanksgiving food porn this year, so it should be interesting. Stay tuned for the poll!

I can't lie, that sucked -- but the game food was good

I don't think anyone predicted a defensive struggle between the Lions and the Packers, but that's what we got. The Pack gave up 9 points to the Lions defense, for God's sake. The whole thing sucked, start to finish. Credit to the Lion's defense. For once, Packers' defense played well, but the offense did nothing.

Fortunately, that was not the case with the Chez Wolves kitchen. The game food rocked. First, we had tortilla chips and salsa, served in a Packers bowl, naturally:

We also had onion straws with horseradish sauce, always good:

Of course we had potato skins:

We also had brown sugar bacon dogs, which we have had before but, as I realized when preparing for the game, I have never given instructions on how to make them. So, without further ado, here are the instructions.

First, grab some bacon, cocktail wienies (or hotdogs cut into 6 pieces each -- I prefer Hillshire Farms wienies, but you can use what you like), some brown sugar, some toothpicks, worcestershire sauce and Tabasco sauce.

Yeah, I know, not everything is in the picture. I was kind of winging it. Anyway, cut the bacon into 6 pieces per slice. You can do it as 1/4s, but you will have a lot of overlap. Take a wienie (I love saying that) and wrap it in bacon, then secure everything with a toothpick. Like so:

Get a two-quart baking dish and put about a quarter-pound of brown sugar in the bottom. However many wienies you have wrapped, put them in there. You are limited only by your appetite for pork products and how much bacon and wienies you have on hand.

Top that with another quarter pount of brown sugar, then douse it with about a tablespoon of Tabasco and a couple tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce. This is to taste, of course, so you might use more or less.

Put those in the oven at 350 for about 50 minutes, covered. They will be swimming in melted brown sugar when you take them out:

I served them in the Packers Snack Helmet, with mixed nuts in the facemask, but a serving bowl will suffice:

The spread looked pretty good, as did Marrying Into Wolves and whichever kit-tay that was.

Would have  been nice if the game outcome had been as good as the game food, but such is life.
