Yes, it snowed again today. Fortunately, it did not interfere with work in any way. If it doesn't cost me money, I don't care as much, but it is almost fucking April and it has no business snowing this time of year this far south. I really believe this was the last gasp of winter, at least as far as snow goes. Maybe it will get warm now, too.
As it is, this was not a major event -- predictions a few days ago pegged it as being big here, but the track shifted and we only got about 2-3 inches. Probably still more than we should ever see in this area with only a week until April showers start to bring May flowers. Anyway, I was at work but had Mrs. Wolves go take some pictures, which I present here for you edification regarding post-beginning-of-spring snow south of the Mason-Dixon Line.
Naturally, my miniature daffodils were deeply disturbed by the late snow:
I think they'll be OK, though:
Jeb the Wonder Dog, naturally, took the opportunity to roam far afield in a field:
He also managed to look majestic amidst the debris of a high-precipitation winter that, between heavy snowfalls and ice storms, brought down a lot of branches:
All in all, this was a minor bump in the road toward spring. I sure hope it's the last one.
Everything you never wanted to know about the world of temporary attorneys. And maybe more.
Try it!

I am so tired of snow
Yes, we missed another day of work because of snow. We got about 6-8 inches last night and today, which I guess is a respectable total for this area. I'm sure we've exceeded the annual average for the area by a good bit, and I would be really happy if it would stop snowing. Mostly because every damn time it snows, it costs me a lot of money because the firm calls things off based on the federal government's decision. Because the federal government is run by limp-dick, risk-averse pussies, any snow means stay home. After all, if they pay employees to stay home, it's not their money. It's mine.
So, bitter about missing out on overtime hours, I decided to go ahead and get me some snow pictures.
Naturally, the auxilliary back-up dog was not happy about even 6-8 inches:
This is the main road to get from where we are to I-270, which is how commuters get to D.C.:
More of the lake, different angle:
Looking a little more to the south:
Almost due west, from the bridge:

Jeb the Wonder Dog, on the other hand, had no such doubts:
Things looked familiar -- lots of snow:
So I went out on the roads to see what things looked like. Looks like the HOA is running out of salt. The road into my area had not been salted:
This jibed with what I heard on the radio, where a county official said the county was running out of salt. The roads looked like it. This is the main road through the area:

The lake has been frozen for a while, so I figured I should go ahead and get some pictures of some lake ice. Because the overnight low tonight is supposed to be 6 degrees, I figure we'll have lake ice for a while, but here's a vew looking toward the bridge. As you can see, only the part of the lake that has a current (it's a dammed lake with water flowing through) is not frozen:

Some of these photos were taken from the car while on the move, so I apologize for the poor framing. On the other hand, if you don't like it, refer to the title of the blog.

Here's something new -- a post about more damn snow
And this time it is a lot of snow -- the offiicial total for New Market was 19 inches (and it is still coming down). I guess we're wimps, though -- Walkersville got 19.1 inches. Of course, we have 3-5 inches forecast for Saturday. New Market's average annual snowfall is 25.48 inches (as compared to a Maryland average of 20.61 inches), so I know we're well above that for the season already. Probably working on double, really. But never mind that.
Naturally, no work today, so there goes 12 hours of overtime. Not sure about tomorrow -- no word yet on whether we work. Be nice to know early, so I know whether I can sit up late drunk-blogging, or go to bed. Ah, well.
In any event, work, no work, snow, more snow, whatever, I have some snow pictures. Woke up this morning, had a little trouble opening the door:
So, I went outside, shoveled the porch and walk to try and make it possible for the backup auxiliary dog to go do what dogs do when they go outside:
She wsn't crazy bout the whole thing:
Although on a later trip outside, she decided to snowplow with her face:
Things got buried pretty good:
Like I said:
Still, folks managed to dig out:
None of this bothered Jeb the Wonder Dog:
He managed to strike gallant poses everywhere he went:
He complained that the closeup took something away from the context of the original photo, which resembled the windswept Russian steppes and cast him as a cross between Jack London's White Fang and Dr. Zhivago:
So I hope the dog is happy. I'm so sore from shovelling that happiness is beyond me.

Early or not, more snow
Yeah, it did it again. Not quite as much -- about 4 inches -- but even that much is odd for thais early in the winter. Being north and west of DC, we get more snow generally, but even around here, December snow is rare and usually light. To get 8-10 inches in two days is downright bizarre. Must be that global warming I hear so much about -- not. Anyway, looking left:
And right:
And straight out the door:
Jeb the Wonder Dog enjoyed him some snow, but I provide no new pictures of him because it goes to his head.
I'm getting tired of clearing off my car, so I hope we get no more snow for a few weeks. Maybe a White Christmas?
