Apparently, the youth of America are such a bunch of rampaging pussies that they need to be warned in the syllabus whether a college course might offend their delicate sensibilities. I'm not sure how a professor is supposed to determine what topics might require trigger warnings, as the delicate snowflakes like to call them, but apparently they need to be mandatory so that students can "learn." I'm not sure what they expect to learn if every topic that upsets them is banned, but apparently that is what students -- or at least some especially delicate snowflake students -- at American University in Washington, D.C. think. The delicate snowflakes even issued a video:
The hashtag #LetUsLearn apparently was chosen without a hint of irony, considering that the students in question are asking not to be exposed to ideas they might find offensive or upsetting. I'm not sure what they think they are learning if they are protected from ideas that upset them or that they disagree with. If you are only "taught" things that you're OK with and agree with, you aren't actually learning anything.
We're raising a bunch of pussies. And we're doomed.
