Remembering John Lennon

Yes, I know yesterday was the anniversary of John Lennon's murder in 1980, but I was in Tokyo's Narita Airport when I heard and, since I was across the International Date Line, it was Dec. 9 where I was. So there's that.

John's solo career was a little uneven, but it included a lot of brilliant work. He was making music again when he died, and "Double Fantasy" is an excellent album. Still, tough to top this:

Who says cover songs are never as good as the original? (Hell, you can't even name who did the original.) The Isley Brothers scored a big hit with it before The Beatles recorded it, but they weren't the first. Look it up; the answer will surprise you.
