Mrs. Wolves was out walking dogs or something and spotted some hawks perched in a tree. Truthfully, I never would have noticed:
She got got her camera -- no phone pictures here, all of the photos are taken from the distance apparent in the above photo -- and went to work. One of the hawks flew off quickly:
As you can see in the above photo, though, one hawk remained perched in the tree. When the second hawk took flight, she got some pretty good shots. Like this one:

There was enough detail to identify this as a red-shouldered hawk. They are common in this area year-round. We see them and red-tailed hawks pretty often. It is easy to assume that they are red-tailed hawks, also common around here year-round.
