You don't get much opportunity for game food porn between the Super Bowl and the first game of the season. But that's a long time without game food porn, so you should always look for opportunities to try new recipes. Some I test drive as regular food porn; rarely do I get to try out a game food recipe during the off-season.
But the draft -- specifically, the first night of the draft -- provides just such an opportunity, and I took advantage of it. My nephew came over to watch Round 1 Thursday, and I test-drove a new game food recipe. Early results look good.
You start with cubed cheddar cheese, bacon (duh), and some large dinner biscuits in the style of Pilsbury Grands:
Cut the biscuits into four pieces:
Flatten the pieces and put a cube of cheese in the center:
Wrap it up tight:
Wrap the dough ball in bacon:
You can secure the bacon with toothpicks, of course. Then throw those bad boys into a skillet over medium-high heat:
Turn repeatedly until the bacon is crispy on all sides:
And then just enjoy.
