Eugene Robinson is an idiot

Unfortunately, Eugene is typical of anti-gun liberals. He seems to think the Charlie Hebdo massacre in France, which has draconian gun-control laws, would have been worse here, because the U.S. protects the right to keep and bear arms. Tell me if you see any logic here:
“Just to keep it in perspective, I don’t think we should imagine that the conditions and the threat are exactly the same in the United States as they are in France,” he said. “They are different.”
“In fact, one thing that is different here is weapons are universally available and so, uh, it is actually a very good thing that…that…that the tensions are not exactly the same because we would expect to have a lot more of that sort of carnage here.”
What was different in France was that the bad guys had fully automatic weapons (illegal here and in France, but apparently available in France to people willing to break the law) while the victims were completely unarmed, as were the police who initially responded.

Eugene's right, there might have been a lot more carnage had the attack happened in this country. Some of the victims might have been armed themselves and been able to shoot back, killing some of the attackers. Seriously, how the FUCK does ensuring that the victims have no weapons because they are law-abiding reduce the carnage inflicted by terrorists who are unconcerned with the nation's gun laws? Eugene Robinson is an idiot.

Hat tip to Hot Air.
